Description:
This property is Scanlan Landing Hunting Club. The name Scanlan comes from the old river chute that forms the outside boundary of the club. The club comprises 1,680 acres; 400 hundred acres of cropland and the balance in woods with two lakes. Located on the western bank (Arkansas side) of the Mississippi River it is actually located in Shelby County, Tennessee. It is surrounded by cropland, so it is a natural sanctuary for wild game. The club is directly west across the MS River from Cow Island, another well-known MS River club. Driving time from the Memphis-Arkansas Bridge to the club is approximately 20 minutes. Anyone living in the MS River delta knows the caliber of trophy whitetail a managed property can produce here. This property has been a hunting club for deer, turkey, squirrel, duck and geese for approximately thirty years. A strict trophy deer and turkey management program has been in place here for the past seven years. Log books and trophy records are available to prospective buyers. There is city water and electricity to the property. There is a large owner’s lodge and a separate club house with sleeping quarters for eight and a dining area that will feed twenty. Some of the members have mobile homes. There are two mobile homes available at present. Access to the club is by an all- weather gated gravel road (approximately one mile in length) off a paved highway. The club is made of 8 members who pay dues annually and have no ownership interest in the property. There are over fifteen (15) designated club deer stands. Currently members sign up for the club stands for morning and afternoon hunts. There are several food plots for the deer (in addition, this year much of the cropland was planted in soybeans); and a sun flower field prepared for dove hunting. These coveted Mississippi River clubs seldom change hands, so this may be a once in a lifetime opportunity. Scanlan Landing Club Shown by appointment only between 10am and 2pm. No exceptions.
