Question: Joel, how important is having timber on a property to investors in your area? Braun: Although the timber component of the land is a consideration, timber doesn’t seem to be a major buying reason for purchasing land in Wisconsin. Many of our forests have already been logged-out in the last 25 years. However, in the middle and the northern part of the state are papermills. Much of this papermill land is being sold. The paper companies have owned much of this land for many years, and they’ve managed it for pulp paper and replanted it. Mike Palmer, General Manager, Southwest Region

Mike joined Mossy Oak Properties in February of 2006 as their Southwest Region Manager. Mike brings 36 years of experience with International Paper to his new job with Mossy Oak Properties. During these years, he held a variety of positions Ð forest management, fiber procurement, human relations, management development and land transactions. In the last 23 years, he has worked with IP Realty as Manager of land sales and General Manager for 82,000 acre farm operations in Texas and Arkansas. As the sales manager for the West Region, he was awarded Realty Salesman of the Year on two different occasions. Mike has been an avid hunter and fisherman all his life. This love of the outdoors led him to pursue a degree in forestry from the University of Georgia. He is a registered forester in a number of southern states. Mike has always shared his love of the outdoors with those around him. He shared that love with his son and other young boys by serving as a past Cub and Boy Scout Master. His leadership helped to guide his son and other boys to their Eagle Scout Awards. Mike and his wife of 34 years, Sherry, reside in Kingwood, Texas with their 15 year old daughter, Julia. Their 27 year old son, Richard, lives close by in Crosby, Texas. Mike and his family enjoy camping and time spent together with family and friends. During Mike's 36 year career, he and his family have lived and worked in most of the southern states. Mike brings to Mossy Oak Properties his knowledge of land, sales and management experience and the contacts and knowledge he has gained over the years.
