Fishing’s Great, But Deer, Quail, and Hogs Seem to Be the Drawing Cards

Although Lake Eufaula is regarded one of the best bass lakes in the nation, most of the calls coming to Tom Jones at Mossy Oak Properties of Eufaula are inquiring about hunting property. While Jones receives calls from all over the nation, most are from Florida. “These folks are looking for land that they can deer hunt on, hog hunt on and quail hunt on,” Tom Jones said. “Although hogs have been in our area for a long time, hog hunting has just become popular in the last few years. Hogs have become so numerous in our county that some farmers are having problems with hogs rooting-up their crops. At one time the hogs were concentrated in certain areas, but now they are distributed pretty well throughout our region.”

Most of Jones’ clients are buying property to deer hunt on, but hogs have definitely been a bonus to consumers looking for recreational properties. “Too, turkey hunting has really caught on down here,” Jones says. “We seem to have plenty of them, and we’re starting to see more and more people come to our county to hunt turkeys. They’re considering the turkey population that the land may have as a part of their buying decisions.”

Jones and his agents have lived in the Eufaula region for years. They’ve seen the wildlife populations in Barbour County really begin to grow. After working in the county for so long, they know most of the landowners and understand the value of not only the wildlife but also the timber on the property. This is the reason why so many landowners list their property with Mossy Oak Properties of Eufaula and Tom Jones. He’s homefolks, and they feel he can best represent their property, their wildlife, and their timber to potential buyers. Most of the other realtors in his area specialize in selling houses, but Jones and his agents are known throughout their section of the state for their ability to find and sell recreational properties.
