The Advantage for the Absentee Landowner

One story many people don’t know is how Mossy Oak camouflage originated. When Toxey Haas was a little boy, he wanted to become invisible in the woods. When he decided to develop a new and better camouflage pattern, he looked around and said, “What’s the most-common element in the outdoors?” Then he reached down and picked up a handful of dirt. Without question, the most-common element found on forest properties nationwide is forestland dirt. Haas studied the colors and the patterns of the earth in the forest, and that’s how he came up with his first pattern – Bottomland. Over the years, as Mossy Oak continued to grow and build their camouflage and product line, there was one central theme continuously running through the man Toxey Haas and the company – a deep appreciation for the earth, the forest, the fields and the waters and the wildlife, the birds and the fish that inhabit them. Haas realized in the early days of Mossy Oak that without the land and the animals that lived on the land, there would be no need to be invisible, and therefore, no need for Mossy Oak. The Mossy Oak Company has funded hundreds of research projects, charitable organizations and programs to preserve, protect and enhance forestlands and wildlife.
As Haas saw the big timber companies and large landowners divesting themselves of large tracts of land, he recognized the need for knowledgeable real-estate agents who had a love for land, hunting, fishing and conservation to help sportsmen, companies, corporations, investors and individuals find the type of forestlands they wanted to purchase, develop and improve, as he’d done on his own property. This was the idea and the man behind the Mossy Oak Properties Company. This is the reason Haas has sought-out and screened people to find realtors like Jim Logan. So, when a consumer is looking for a friend to help them buy or sell forestlands, they can trust the realtor who displays the Mossy Oak Properties sign and logo.
