David McCain

I was born and raised in Southern Ohio, and the outdoors has been a major part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up fishing with my grandfather, hunting squirrels as a kid, and eventually developed a lifelong passion for whitetail deer, turkey, and waterfowl hunting. Today, I own and actively manage recreational property in Ross County for whitetail habitat, hunting, and long-term land improvement. That gives me the opportunity to understand land not only from a real estate perspective, but also from the perspective of a landowner, hunter, and property manager.

I specialize in hunting land, recreational properties, farms, wooded acreage, rural homes, and investment land throughout Southern and Central Ohio, with particular experience in Ross, Pickaway, Pike, Highland, Hocking, and surrounding counties.

When I evaluate a property, I look beyond acreage and price per acre. I consider access, terrain, timber, water sources, bedding areas, food sources, neighboring land use, prevailing winds, entry and exit routes, and the overall layout of the property. For hunting and recreational buyers, those details can have a major impact on how a property hunts, holds wildlife, and performs over the long term.

Before entering real estate, I served four years in the United States Marine Corps, including two combat tours in Iraq. After completing my military service, I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from the University of Rio Grande and attended the Ohio Auction School. I have been a licensed auctioneer since 2014 and am the owner and auctioneer of McCain Auction Services, where I have worked with landowners, estates, farms, equipment, and real estate throughout the region.

My background in auctions, business, rural property ownership, land management, and outdoor recreation gives me a practical understanding of both sides of a land transaction. I understand what makes a property attractive to a hunter, farmer, recreational buyer, or investor, while also understanding the importance of pricing, marketing, presentation, negotiations, and getting a property in front of the right audience.

Outside of work, I continue to spend much of my time hunting whitetail deer and waterfowl and managing my own Southern Ohio property. My wife, Amber, and our three children also enjoy the outdoors and take part in the management and enjoyment of our land.
