John DuRant

John DuRant is a lifelong resident of Clarendon County, South Carolina. Growing up on a family farm instilled a love of the outdoors from a young age. He graduated from Clemson University in 1988 with a degree in Agricultural Industries and worked on his family’s farm until 1999, at which point he entered the insurance business. In 2004 he started his own agency, DuRant Insurance, from scratch and still manages it today. 

I first became interested in real estate when my wife and I started flipping houses and began to learn the real estate business from the buyer’s side. The insurance business has treated me well but the ‘walls started closing in on being in the office every day so I started looking around for a way to merge my experience with the real estate business with my love of the land. Mossy Oak was the perfect opportunity to do that. Now I’m able to help others who have the same passions that I do.”

His hobbies, not coincidentally, all revolve around the outdoors. “Both of my sons are heavily involved in golf, baseball and any kind of hunting and fishing so that is what my free time is spent on. I enjoy teaching them about hunting even more so than doing it myself.”
