Matt Thrasher

Matt Thrasher brings a wealth of forestry knowledge, hands-on field experience, and a deep-rooted passion for the outdoors to every client relationship. He holds an associate degree in Forestry Technology from Northeast Mississippi Community College and has more than a decade of experience in land sales, timber markets, and forest management. Matt is dedicated to helping buyers and sellers unlock the full potential of their land investments.

Matt’s career began immediately after high school as a hunting guide in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, where he chased elk on horseback and developed a lasting appreciation for the land and its unique attributes. In 2013, he joined Growing Assets Forestry Consulting Group in Tuscumbia, Alabama, as a field operations forester, specializing in timberland investments, timber sales, and forest management for private landowners. In 2015, within the same office, Matt expanded his expertise into land real estate as a Land Specialist with Natural Resources Group, focusing on land procurement and investment land sales for private landowners under the mentorship of Stephan Tomlinson, whose guidance played a significant role in shaping his professional approach.

In 2019, Matt capitalized on the bourbon industry boom by becoming a stave log buyer for Independent Stave Company—the largest whiskey barrel manufacturer in the world—specializing in white oak procurement for bourbon barrel production and further sharpening his ability to identify high-value timber and investment-grade properties. Now a licensed real estate agent in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee with Mossy Oak Properties, Matt specializes in helping clients buy and sell recreational, investment, commercial, timber, and farm properties tailored to their specific goals. An avid outdoorsman, Matt believes every piece of land tells a story and brings that perspective to each transaction, helping clients see opportunity and value in every property, regardless of size.

Originally from Ohio, Matt has called Northeast Mississippi home since childhood and currently resides in Iuka, MS. He is proud to serve the land and people of this region with expertise, integrity, and enthusiasm.
