Travis Kerby
I am 47 years old and have been married to my wonderful wife Lindsey for 24 years. I
was born and raised in Moweaqua where we currently reside with our two daughters.
Olivia is 17 and a senior in high school and Georgia is 11 and in 6 th grade. I currently
work for the state of Illinois as a Liquor Control Agent and just started my 21 st year
within state government. I chose a career in real estate to supplement my current
income as well as the chance to work with a vast diversity of people in achieving their
goals of real estate ownership. I hope to continue this career path part time and then
transition into full time real estate when I retire from the state of Illinois in 9 years. What
excites me about this career is there are endless possibilities if a person is willing to put
in the work and time.
LIFE BEFORE REAL ESTATE OR ALONGSIDE IT
I have worked for the state of Illinois for 21 years. I have held three different jobs with
three different agencies. It has been a great place to work, and each job is what each
person makes of it. I am currently a Liquor Control Agent with the Illinois Liquor Control
Commission, and it has been my favorite job of the three. I worked for DHS in the
Sexually Violent Offenders Prison in Rushville. I knew I did not want to stay at that job
through retirement, so I applied to the Department of Agriculture Meat Inspection
Bureau and was hired. I really enjoyed the meat inspection job, but I had reached the
top of the salary chart and felt that I needed to try to better myself. I then applied for two
years with the Illinois Liquor Commission as a Special Agent in the Enforcement
Division and was hired in August 2018. I currently have approximately 9 years left until I
can retire and I intend to do that so I can focus on my real estate career.
OUTSIDE INTERESTS
My family and I enjoy attending church every week together as well as volunteering in
our church at Moweaqua First Christian Church. I enjoy hunting and fishing when I have
the time. I also enjoy watching our daughters play sports and compete. We enjoy
hanging out in the pool in the evenings and weekends as well as grilling out in the
summer. I enjoy spending valuable time with my wife every chance we get.
When I started my real estate career my ultimate goal was to eventually market
and sell hunting and recreational land. God blessed me sooner then I expected and I
was given an opportunity to work for Mossy Oak Properties- Illinois land and Lifestyle as
a real estate agent and land specialist. While I can still market and sell residential
properties we also specialize in recreational and hunting land. I will mainly cover Shelby
and Fayette county but I can refer you to other Mossy Oak Properties Land Specialists
in any county in Illinois and Indiana. I look forward to earning your trust and business.
