Mossy Oak Properties, Inc. honored the late Dustin Pope of Mossy Oak Properties Bottomland Real Estate for the inaugural Patriot Award at its recent Land Summit February 24th and 25th in Starkville, Mississippi.
The Patriot Award recognizes a member of the Mossy Oak Properties family who serves or has served with distinction in our nations’ armed forces, law enforcement, or first responder units. Pope was a cherished member of Mossy Oak Properties Bottomland Real Estate who served as a flight nurse with AirCare in Mississippi. Dustin and his crew were tragically lost in a helicopter crash last March after transporting a patient to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Dustin was survived by his wife, Tabatha and three young children.
Hunter McCool, Managing Broker of Mossy Oak Properties Bottomland Real Estate, said, “Dustin Pope embodied everything the Patriot Award was created to honor. He was a man of unwavering faith, deep humility, and relentless dedication; both in his work and in the way he lived his life. As a flight nurse, Dustin gave of himself daily, serving others in their most critical moments, and ultimately made the greatest sacrifice in that calling. Within Mossy Oak Properties, he was more than a teammate; he was a steady presence who made everyone around him better. His love for God, his family, and his purpose was evident in everything he did. Dustin pushed himself to be his very best every single day, and that example continues to inspire all of us. He is deeply missed, greatly loved, and forever a part of our team and our story.”
“We have a strong sense of respect to our men and women that serve our country, regardless of the role,” said Chris Hawley, CEO/President and Co-Founder of Mossy Oak Properties, Inc. “The Patriot Award is a small way of saying ‘thank you’ to those like Dustin who put their lives on the line to keep us safe and free. We could not possibly think of anyone more deserving for our inaugural award, as Dustin truly paid the ultimate sacrifice to serve others. It was a calling for him, and he left an indelible mark upon us at Mossy Oak Properties.”
