This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own a piece of history with the  historic Everett’s Lake property. The main attraction of this gorgeous property is the 230-acre lake that has been in existence for over 200 years. The lake consists of approximately 110 acres of open lake and 120 acres of forested riparian wetlands, seepage wetlands and marsh wetlands. Since 1936, this special place has served as a private fishing club that boasts some of the best largemouth bass fishing in the state as well as crappie, bream and shellcrackers. The property’s history goes back to the 1700’s with its original owner being Brigadier General Henry William Harrington, a locally famous Revolutionary War general who was also credited with founding Rockingham, NC. The property remained in the Harrington family until the post-Civil War era and was purchased by Captain W.I. Everett. During the Everett ownership, the lake was the center of local commerce with a general store, grist mill, blacksmith shop and brick manufacturing plant on the lake’s shore. In 1895, Mr. Everett constructed a summer retreat home that would one day be the original clubhouse for the fishing club. The property remained in the Everett family and was leased out to a group of businessmen from Greensboro, NC for a fishing club in 1936 and in 1958, they formed the Everett’s Lake Corporation and purchased the property. Eighty-four years and counting, this unique one-of-a-kind fishing property continues to provide lifelong memories for its club members.

The dam was totally rebuilt in 2013. In 2015, the old summer retreat that served as the original clubhouse was torn down and the new 4,829 sq. ft. clubhouse was erected. The clubhouse features picturesque sunset views over the lake and has 3 bedrooms and 2 baths. The spacious great room features a stone fireplace, pine wood floors that were reclaimed from the original mansion rafters and floor joists, and a bar for entertaining. The kitchen is set up with commercial equipment and incorporates the reclaimed pine wood in its countertops. The clubhouse also has a full basement that currently serves as a check-in area for club members as well as a workroom and recreation area. There are both men’s and women’s rest rooms on the main level and a restroom in the basement. There is a pier just off the back of the clubhouse that you can drop a hook in from or to dock your boat when you come in for lunch. This one-of-a-kind property uses a geo-thermal heating and cooling system to keep power consumption as economical as possible.

In addition, there has also been a mitigation bank feasibility study done and it has been determined that there are substantial stream and riparian wetland mitigation credits on this property. This property is an amazing value with its historical value, recreational value and finally, the mitigation bank value. This is a tremendous investment opportunity that rarely comes along. Call today for a private tour of this special property.
