Ranch of the West
Description
SOLD***In the northcentral region of New Mexico is a land of many
colors affectionately known as O'Keeffe Country. Here you will find the "Ranch
of the West" nestled against a magnificent yellow bluff and the Canjilon Creek
along US Hwy 84 just 5 miles north of the Ghost Ranch. The landscape of this charming
50-acre parcel ranges from the canyon floor almost to the rim rock with access
to thousands of acres of the Carson National Forest. The beautifully
constructed two story, three-bedroom, three-bath 3,156 sq ft home was designed to allow its
inhabitants to bask in the surrounding beauty with views in all directions.
Nestled in a large mott of oaks, with one of the enormous yellow bluffs and the
creek as its backdrop. Watch the sun rise in the east or enjoy the outdoor
fireplace with large rock patio in the evening.
With its running water and high mesa with awe inspiring
views of the Cerro Perdenal, Ghost Ranch, and Abiquiu Lake and thousands of
acres of the Carson Forest adjoining the property, there is something for
everyone.
Artisan - The huge windows on all sides of the house and two
walk-out decks will provide hours of enjoyment. Whether just enjoying the view
or using the diverse landscape as your model for painting, drawing,
sculpting, or photographing, there will be no shortage of inspiration for the
amateur or professional artist. Less than two hours from the art communities of
Santa Fe or Taos just adds to the charm of this unique area.
Outdoor Enthusiast - Whether you are into hiking or
recreational vehicles, the Carson National Forest boasts 1.5 million acres with
plenty of room to roam. If fishing or water sports are more interesting,
Abiquiu, El Vado, and Lake Heron State parks are less than an hour from the
property. Rio Chama is also great for fly fishing. Cross country and downhill
skiing, snowmobiling, and rafting are all available within a short drive. The
general vicinity is also popular for elk and mule deer hunters on both public
and private land.
Equestrian - With 50 acres on the property and the adjoining
national forest, enjoy hours of endless riding and exploring. The property has
a fenced riding area with good ground and a round pen to warm up your mount
before starting out for the day.
Attractions -North 30 minutes on the Colorado state line
lies the village of Chama, NM, with its famous Cumbres and Toltec Narrow Gauge
Railroad and majestic mountain peaks. Fifty miles further and you can enjoy the

road 60 miles is Durango, CO, with another famous train to Silverton, CO. To
the west are some of the most well-known sites of ancient civilization such as
