Sledge Farm
Description
This highly improved farm is located in the northern portion of Quitman County, just west of Sledge. It has four non-contiguous tracts that are in close proximity to one another. All of the tracts lie north of Mississippi Highway 315, with three having frontage on the highway allowing easy access. Three of the tracts have additional road frontage on county-maintained roads. Highways 3 and 315 provide good access to the area. The area is known for good waterfowl hunting and this could provide some additional income.
All of the farm is well drained, precision-leveled and irrigated with twelve wells and one relift pump. The soils are mainly Class III clay and silty clay. It is currently planted in mainly soybeans with some corn and rice. It has been on a similar cropping plan for the past several years. The farm is highly productive and just over ninety percent cultivable with 1,309 acres being farmed. The farm headquarters is improved with a shop / office, grain bins, a fuel storage / containment area, metal-frame equipment shed and other pole barn type storage sheds.
The farm is currently leased with two years remaining. There are 28.2 acres enrolled in CRP and planted in hardwoods. More information is available upon request.
